Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum
What particularly distinguishes this museum is the beauty of its architecture. It was built in 1933 in what was then the newest architectural style as the residence of Prince and Princess Asaka. Built by famous craftsmen of the day, including René Lalique, then one of France’s leading glassmakers, the Art Deco style building and its interior transport you back to a different age. The museum was designated as an Important Cultural Property by the government in 2015. Reception parties can be held in the stunning new annex lobby, terrace and café whose floor to ceiling windows provide wonderful views of the garden.
Tenants and interior may have changed due to renovation.
